final submission to art journal

so this is the last post for this assessment. i actually have to say that i found the blog form of assessment quite different and easier then having to formally type essays and what not.

in regards to my pieces, im almost finished with my work, i am about to begin the commencement of my last piece, but im running out of ideas on what to do.

i have referred back to my influences of EbOY to help inspire my final piece.
images such as;

from this im thinking of leading towards an image of a sky filled with hot aim balloons with marketing and advertising of television programs all over the balloons. in order to complete this, i need to begin laying out a template with adobe illustrator, and block in the pixel shades within to create a shaded effect that will be flawless.

if this experiment is successful, it will be the final piece of my assessment.

Week 10 - digi art

week 10- how time has flown. I'm finding it quite hard to access illustrator from home. i have to continuously delete and download the trail version and I'm running out of email addresses to download with. as well as this my comp is low on virtual memory so my comp is starting to crap itself.

in today's lesson i have continued working on one of my pieces which portrays all the money we spend in our life on digital items. whilst creating the piece i have realised how much crap there is out there, and how ridiculously priced t all is. the demand for so many products is outstanding. i feel kind of glad that i haven't succumbed into the hype of constantly updating my technology, as i believe i would be extremely in debt.

i have not yet begun to calculate the total costs of each item as a whole, however this will be the next step; to explore how much one spend over a life time by updating and keeping up with the trends.

5 art pieces!

i can now say i have completed 3 works and am very proud of the outcomes. although it has been hard work, i feel that with the precision and detail added to the works has allowed them to become refined and show the elements of depth that i have wanted to achieve.

2 week teaching round

so for the last 2 weeks we have had teaching rounds which have been draining yet fun!
its taken a while for me to get use to my school as it is so diverse, but im now getting a good feel for the school and the kids and staff in it.

i have been taking yr 9 art classes for a few lessons. i decided to get them out of their comfort zone and intoroduce clay as a medium, rather than grey lead pencils. they are enjoying it quite well as they find it quite challenging, which is great.

as for my 5 artworks, i feel that im falling behind. i am trying to do as much work on them as possible in my free time, but i find that with all my work load atm that im struggling. however, i know i will ghet it all done!

acf 2001

throughout the easter week off i have continued to work on the pieces that will compile my final piece. i am finding it quite hard to move from mac to pc then back as the work comes up differently on each system. i feel that it would be more worthwhile to use one computer rather than two, however i dont feel that it can be achieved as the macs are only available to me whilst at uni. as this is a problem, i will continue to use both comps and see what i will achieve in the final process.]

so far i am thoroughly enjoying creating the pieces as it allows me to work out of my element and challenge myself. as i move forward into the creation process i feel that i really need to focus on the main topic and intention of my pieces, as i know i will drift off and create something completely different, which i am hoping not to do.

as of know i feel that i have 99% completed one piece of my works, all it comes down to is now knuckling down and continuing on my other ones to be ready in time for presentations in week 12.

acf 2001 - week 6

within this weeks class we have experimented with the macs by using corel painter and the tablets. for me this was a new experience that was interesting in itself. i wasnt aware of the ability to use solely one app to manipulate and recreate different processes that would otherwise be done through physical creation. ive found it quite interesting that so many processes can be done, such as use different techniques to produce a final product.
i experimented with the tool of a tapered brush on a hard grain surface. this particularly attributed the significance of the stroke, and allowed it to show different elements of light through basic shades of red.

acf digital art - week 4

whilst i have been working on my final pieces between work and home, i have found it to become quite difficult with changing between PC and MAC. although i am using illustrator on both computers, the formatting has come across differently. i am unsure as to why this has happened. through the processes i was using within the first/ second week, i now have to reconsider the ways in which i am creating my pixel squares, this is due to the fact that the methods to replicate the squares has changed due to the use of different computers.
with knowing this i have adopted a method that will allow me to replicate the squares successfully without easily becoming frustrated as it is a timely procedure.
so far i have completed approx 1/3 of my first piece and so far i am quite happy with the result and my choice to create works in this form (although it is very time consuming and can be frustrating!)
